The connectional anatomy of visual mental imagery
What structural connection in the brain to support the visual mental imagery?
Close your eyes and think of Leonardo da Vinci’s Monna Lisa. Is she looking at you or not? Is her hair curled or straight? Visual Mental Imagery (VMI) is the set of abilities whereby we can “see” things that are elsewhere (or nowhere: now imagine Monna Lisa frowning at you).
Our research project on visual mental imagery led by Pr. Paolo Bartolomeo in PICNIC lab at Paris Brain Institute.
PICNIC Lab: Physiological Investigations of Clinically Normal and Impaired Cognition
The team led by Laurent Cohen, Lionel Naccache and Paolo Bartolomeo is devoted to the study of cognitive functions with an exclusive or prevalent development in humans, namely language and conscious cognition.
They focus their research on:
What structural connection in the brain to support the visual mental imagery?
How could we be conscious about the external world? Is there a role for attention to help?
Merci pour votre intérêt, nous avons identifié les participants pour notre première étude IRMf dans notre projet.
How does evidence from brain-damaged patients, cortical stimulation and neuroimaging tell us about the brain laterality of visual imagery?
What do we know from past neuro-imaging studies?
Evaluate your mind’s eye with our new tests here
Une nouvelle batterie de tests permet grâce à differentes variables (perception, imagerie, vivacité) d’évaluer votre capacité à générer des images mentales.
